What You’ll do

The Director of Human Resources for Store Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and enhancing the HR function within our store operations. As a key member of our HR leadership team, you will collaborate closely with senior executives and business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's growth and success.

  • Develop and execute HR strategies that align with Rural King’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing HR team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Lead change management initiatives related to HR and store operations.
  • Manage and resolve associate relations issues, working to create a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Continuously improve our performance management process to drive associate engagement, productivity, and career development.
  • Ensure that all HR practices, policies, and procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilize HR analytics and data to make informed decisions, measure the effectiveness of HR programs, and provide insights to other leaders.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure the recruitment and onboarding of top-tier talent meet staffing needs.
  • Partner with the Learning and Development team to create and implement development programs and initiatives to enhance the skills, capabilities, and performance of store associates.
  • Partner with the Total Rewards team to develop and administer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
  • Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support to others, assisting with inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener, partner, and problem solver.
  • Actively participate in learning initiatives offered such as training programs, workshops, and webinars. Leverage these opportunities to acquire new knowledge, refine existing skills, and stay current on the latest developments.
  • Lead associates in a way that exemplifies the leadership principles taught in Rural King’s Thrive Leadership Program.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that exemplify Rural King’s Values: People First, Integrity, Attitude, Initiative, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Travel, as business dictates, to Rural King locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualities for Success

  • At least 5 years of HR Management experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in, or the ability to quickly learn, the Applicant Tracking System and other HR systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop associates, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills for addressing challenges and making effective leadership decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport, listen actively, and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals in a respectful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Adaptability in response to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and evolving business needs.
  • Ability to approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Comfort with taking calculated risks and accepting accountability for decision outcomes.
  • Strong communication and persuasive skills to negotiate and influence stakeholders at various levels in the organization.
  • Ability to remain composed and focused during high-pressure situations, ensuring quality and timely outcomes.

  • Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended periods.
